BLUE

The Spirit of Jaffa Festival, 18-19 June

As part of Tel-Aviv-Jaffa's centennial celebrations, the Blue Festival will open on June 18 at various locations in Jaffa.  The festival is a cultural celebration that provides a place and stage to Jaffa's singular brand of 'Mediterraneanism.'  Just like the city itself, the festival is replete with diverse and composite colors, aromas and flavors that together create that special Jaffa spirit.

The Blue Route: A new walking route through the city and port will be inaugurated during the festival. The Blue Route traces the Mediterranean character of Tel-Aviv-Jaffa, running along the coast, from the Jaffa Ridge and Jaffa Port, via stations such as the Clock Tower, the Etzel Museum, London Square, and Metzitzim Beach, to the Tel Aviv Port.

Blue Week: Blue is also the official opening of Blue Week – a celebration of cultural, culinary and commercial discounts throughout Jaffa.  Valid through June 25th, a number of business establishments in Jaffa will offer discounts and various benefits.

Music: Live musical performances will take place on the sea stage at the Jaffa Port, including among others, on 18 June: a sunset show of Arab music classics and Shlomi Saranga in concert and, on 19 June from 10:00, everything from DJs playing electronic Arab music and shows for children to dance and choir performances, all featuring Arab music and culture.

Markets: The Jaffa Flea Market, popular with tourists during the day and night for its varied stalls and items for sale, will also host live music on Thursday and Friday. The Blue Market will display the finest of Jaffa's produce all under one roof. Popular  Jaffa eateries will serve their best along the beach, including Yoezer Wine Bar, Dr. Shakshuka, Cordelia Restaurant, Abulafia Bakery and many others offering special menus.

Art: Many exhibitions, in addition to the permanent art galleries in the Old City, will be on display, including a coexistence exhibition, an art installation and many different workshops.

RS:X European Open Windsurfing Championship:  Over a period of ten days, one of the most important global sailing events will be taking place opposite the city's beaches. The RS:X European Open Windsurfing Championship will host hundreds of surfers from Israel and abroad who will compete in different teams.  The horizon will be decorated with dozens of colorful sailboats and in honor of the Championship, the Tel Aviv Marina will turn into a mini-Olympic village where special events, ceremonies and celebrations will be held.
