Are you a couch potato? Is your typical walking experience comprised of strolling through the local mall? It's time to get up and smell the Great Outdoors! Any person in good health can go on this march, though you should probably check with your GP if he/she approves. Every participant in the Gilboa International march is required to walk 20 km per day, according to IML (International Marching League) rules. Participants will be issued IML marching cards; properly marked cards will make you eligible for having your passport stamped on the second day of the march, which in turn will ensure that you receive the medals and certificates of participation. Participants who march 20 km + 20km will receive a special medal and a special certificate.
International walkers competing 8 IML European walks will receive the European walker clip and certificate.
However, this march is not a competition; participants are encouraged to walk at their own comfortable pace. Citrus fruit and water will be provided free of charge by the organizers. Light refreshments and soft drinks can be purchased along the route. Free first aid stations will also be available along the way.
So put your best foot forward, bring your flags and banners, enjoy the fresh spring air and the beautiful countryside of the Jezreel Valley and Mount Gilboa. You can count on an average day time temperature of 20°C and average night time temperature of 12°C.
The event is organized by the Israeli Sport for All Association (ISFA) and the Gilboa Regional Council (Gilboa R.C.) and is sponsored by the KKL-JNF, the Israel Nature and Parks Authority, and MegaSport.
