The Orthodox Patriarchate and congregation celebrate the feast in the traditional location of the house of St. Simeon in Katamon, Jerusalem.

When Jesus was brought to the Temple by his parents after his birth, Saint Simeon the Righteous spoke the prophetic words:

“Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word: For mine eyes have seen thy salvation.” (Luke 2: 30).
