The length of Israel by bicycle

The following route will take you from the cliffs overlooking the Mediterranean, around the Tel Aviv metropolitan area, up to Jerusalem and then south to the open spaces of the Negev.

This route is suitable for hybrid bicycles. It is mainly on road, but at some parts, it will leave the tarmac and follow paved dirt roads, avoiding traffic, and getting closer to the sites along the way. The recommended route is on road, unless otherwise mentioned.

From Shizafon to the Red Sea.
Apx. 75 Km


Follow road # 12 southwest across the Sayarim plains. Reach the Israeli- Egyptian border road and continue south. Follow the road up and down Mt. Uziahu, Mt. Hizkiahu, and Mt. Yoram, where you will get a first glimpse of the Red Sea. Follow the road southeast heading down into the city of Eilat

Off road option- from Shizafon Jct. follow the service road south to Shaharut. Exit Shaharut and follow the dirt roads around Mt. Berch into the Eilat Mountains nature reserve until reaching the border road. From there continue into Eilat.

Overnight in Eilat.
