Golan Heights Winery
The winery was established in 1983 and it produces approximately 5 million bottles annually. The winery was founded around a year after the first grape harvest from the Golan Heights vineyards, to meet the needs of the new organization of grape growers in the region. This is a modern winery which operates computer controlled modern rollers, and the stainless steel vats for the wine production are also computer regulated. The grapes come to the winery from the vineyards of the Golan Heights, from Mevo Hama in the south to Odem and El Rom in the north, and from Ramot Naftali in the Upper Galilee and Ein Zivan in the eastern Golan. The varieties from which the wine is made are Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer, Johannesburg Riesling, Pinot Noir, Gamay Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Viognier, Gewurztraminer, Johannesburg Riesling, Sangiovese, Cabernet Franc, Emerald Reisling, Muscat Canelli, Malbec, Semillon, Petit Verdot and Muscat of Alexandria. There is a visitor center at the winery which offers a tour of the main focal points of the winery through the wine production process, including the wine casks hall, wine cellar for professional tastings, and wine tastings. The winery also holds wine evenings with a professional staff. Visitors can look around the store which sells wines, wine accessories and souvenirs. Trips in the area can also be booked in advance.
