Umm al-Qanatir Synagogue
Excavations using innovative technology are yielding fascinating finds at the ruins of this talmudic-era synagogue. You’ll see a magnificent Torah shrine, menorah-carvings with shofars, etrogs and incense pans, and beautifully finished stone walls. The excavators found remains of only a tiny community next to the synagogue. But they believe the huge arched building at the nearby spring was a prosperous linen-processing plant, with whose profits would have allowed the people built this fine synagogue.
