The holy place of El-Khader one of the five supreme prophets for the Druze, is located near Banias in the foothills of the Golan Heights.

This modest, white-domed building is one of eight places in Israel associated with El-Khader, traditionally identified with Elijah the Prophet. The words “el-Khader” means “the green,” and may refer to Elijah’s presence as eternal and fresh, like nature.

The central, domed room of the holy place is dedicated to El-Khader; it is decorated with colorful cloths and offerings of oil left as offerings by the Druze faithful who come here to make vows. A path from El-Khader leads up to a small pointed dome dedicated to Sith (lady) Sara, a righteous figure from the early days of the Druze religion. The faithful light candles and leave offerings on the rock in front of the dome.

El-Khader and Sith Sara are located above the flowing water and greenery of Banias National Park. However they are accessed via a left turn onto an unpaved road between kilometer markers 12 and 13 before the park’s entrance.
