Type: Exhibiton
Description: On Monday, April 28th, in honor of the 60th Anniversary of the State of Israel, a new Exhibition, "My Homeland, Holocaust Survivors in Israel" will open at Yad Vashem. The exhibition honors and explores the contribution of Holocaust Survivors to the establishment and development of the State of Israel. In the history of immigration there has been no comparable story to that of the Survivors who came to live in Israel and build the country. It is the unique story of a group of immigrants who managed to make a profound an impact on society, reshaping it from the inside out and from the bottom up.
Painters and graphic artists, poets and writers, athletes and dancers, academics and philosophers – almost from the start, their influence went beyond the personal and entered the daily lives of all Israelis. The exhibition's multidisciplinary approach is at once both modern and nostalgic as it presents the contributions of the survivors, which ranged from building communities and agricultural developments to manufacturing, industry and the arts.
