Ben Gurion airport has been ranked as the best airport in the Middle East. The Airports Council International (ACI) rated the top performing airports in the Airport Service Quality Survey for 2007. It was ranked as the best passenger terminal in the middle-east and as the second best airport after Central Japan, in the category of terminals with 5-15 million passengers a year.
The Israel Airports Authority said in response that "for several years now, the Ben Gurion Airport has been ranked in top places in the world in a variety of categories.
"As part of the ongoing improvements introduced by the Israel Airports Authority, the IAA recently decided to invest abut a billion shekels in security and safety at the terminal."
With tourist numbers increasing by 29% from January 2007 to January 2008, it is unsurprising that Israel’s largest airport is a favourite amongst tourists.
