Museum of the Good Samaritan Now Open
A must-see for any visitor to Israel, the Museum of the Good Samaritan – one of the world's largest mosaic museums – opened to the public in the Judean Desert near Jerusalem in June.
Located on the main highway between Jerusalem and Jericho, the museum rests near the site of the inn mentioned in Jesus' "Parable of the Good Samaritan" as found in Luke 10 in the New Testament. It is identified with the biblical town of Ma'ale Adumim (see Joshua 15:7) ![]()
Extraordinary Mosaic in Lod to Be Re-Exposed
Thirteen years after one of the most beautiful mosaics ever to be seen in the Holy Land was covered over, the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA), in cooperation with the municipality of Lod and its residents, is beginning an archaeological excavation that will re-expose the mosaic, once and for all.
The 1,700-year-old mosaic floor, which is one of the most magnificent and largest mosaics ever revealed in Israel, was first uncovered in the city of Lod in 1996. Some 30,000 people from all over the country visited the site during one weekend when the mosaic was on display to the public. ![]()
Unique Festival Blends Bible and Music
Mixing the Bible and a variety of musical forms, the Bible & Love Festival will welcome visitors this August at the Beit Guvrin National Park.
The outstanding Roman amphitheater there and the area's many caves, with their sharp acoustic qualities, will make for a most unusual concert venue that will allow those in attendance to experience a diverse sampling of Jewish culture and music.
